Castaneda Restaurant Ready to Open in New Bear Valley Mall in Hesperia
The kitchen’s cooks were actively chopping produce and reviewing recipes on Thursday as they prepared for the opening of Castaneda’s Mexican restaurant in Hesperia.
“We hope to open this weekend, but we still have a lot of work to do,” said store manager Heidy Casasola, 30, inside the restaurant on Bear Valley Road, just east of Hesperia. Road.
The opening of Castaneda will also mark the opening of the new Bear Valley Commercial Center, which opened in 2019 just east of In-N-Out Burger.
Located in one of the property’s two one-story buildings, the Mexican restaurant offers indoor seating for 30 customers and dual drive-thru for customers on the go.
“We’re open 24/7, so people have the opportunity to visit us whenever they want great Mexican food,” said Casasola, who works at the company. for almost eight years.
Castaneda restaurants are located throughout Southern California, with a store at the corner of Bear Valley and Amethyst Roads in Victorville.
Martha Castaneda – co-founder of the restaurant chain with her husband, Arturo – said the Hesperia location is the couple’s 33rd.
The restaurant serves breakfast burritos and a variety of dishes, such as chorizo and eggs, as well as a Spanish omelet. The lunch and dinner menu includes tacos, tostadas, burritos, tortas, taquitos, quesadillas, mulitas, sopes and enchiladas.
The menu also offers plenty of side orders including beans, rice, nachos carne asada, and chili rellenos, among others.
“I have to say the most popular items on the menu are the carne asada fries and the one-pound California Burrito,” Casasola said. “It’s a huge burrito and people love it.”
Castaneda is located in a 3,000 square foot building on the west side of the Bear Valley Mall.
Charleys Philly Steaks
Charleys Philly Steaks is preparing to move into part of a 6,000 square foot building on the downtown east side.
Charleys’ basic menu includes Philly steaks, a variety of loaded gourmet fries, and lemonade. The sign on the building says the store will also sell chicken wings.
Charleys has nearly 600 sites in 46 states and 17 countries.
Company founder and CEO Charley Shin tasted his first Philly cheesesteak in 1985 while attending Ohio State University.
As a young undergraduate student, Shin wanted to share his sandwich experience with others. After experimenting with countless ingredients and perfecting his recipe, Shin opened his first restaurant, called Charley’s Steakery, in 1986.
Five years later, Charleys started the franchise. In 2002, the name of the store was changed to Charley’s Grilled Subs. In 2012, the store was renamed Charleys Philly Steaks.
The company has not announced an opening date for the Hesperia site.
The shopping center
In 2019, John Connolly, president / partner of Victorville-based CPI Capital Properties, said his team was working on recruiting tenants for the 35,500 square foot mall.
Connolly said a 26,000-square-foot, two-story building is also under construction on the south side of the property, which has already garnered interest from doctors, chiropractors and a day spa.
Connolly did not say when construction of the third building will begin.
